Xiaomi light

Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has become popular not only for its smartphones and smartwatches as they have launched other smart products in the market.

Currently, Xiaomi has a portfolio of products which includes smart lamps, smart weighing scale, and even smart rice cooker; all of which can be controlled via a user’s smartphone.

Certainly, Xiaomi has attracted millions of people around the world by its various smart products using its smart products.

According to news reported in South China Morning Post back in June 2017, Xiaomi had achieved over 50 million device connections around the world as of 2016.

Among its many intelligent products, TechSideTales was privileged to receive the Xiaomi Mijia Bedside Lamp.

Initially launched last year, the Mijia Bedside Lamp is an improved version of the Yeelight Bedside Lamp back in 2015.WEC_9275

Both models have similar features such as lighting up to 16 million colours, equipped with German Osram senior lamp beads and supporting smartphone remote control.

However, with the Mijia Bedside Lamp, it has received some new features which include WiFi and Bluetooth dual-mode which makes it accessible and convenient to use.

That said, this smart light device takes home lighting to a whole new level of imagination as it can be easily used to create various unique light scenes to match every mood.

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Bedside Lamp sports a slim cylindrical body and simplistic design which offers an ideal size for a bedside lamp.WEC_9276

However, we felt it did not provide adequate light for reading; perhaps it is helpful when you have to navigate yourself around the room or to the bathroom at night.

At the same time, it is equipped with an anti-slide rubber on the bottom to ensure the lamp is stable.

Colour Technology and Characteristics

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Bedside Lamp is equipped with high-quality Colour Rendering Index (CRI) Osram LED chip and ABS sheathing material which promises life expectancy of 20,000 hours, therefore it should last for a long time before changing the light bulbs.

While with 16 million colours to choose for your year-round choice, you can easily control it via a smartphone or its button located in the centre on top of the device.

In addition, the colour temperature and brightness adjustable colour range from 1700K to 6500K temperature means it can give you blue like the sea and warm yellow like the sunset with easy changes to the settings.

The Mi Home Ecosystem

The interesting part about the Mijia Bedside Lamp is that one can access to Home APP not only with the remote control but also with Mi Band, Mi AI sound, Mi temperate and humidity sensor intelligent linkage.WEC_9278

For instance, when controlled with the Xiaomi Mi smartwatch, the colour will gradually become soft when the smartwatch detects you are sleeping and will completely turn off when you are asleep.

To install the Mi Home App, search for the feature on your Google Play or Apple Store then download and install it.

Once the app is set up, you can also set up timers, sensors and switches to control the lamp.

So, how cool is that?!
